Work Experience

2010                   Summer Internship, World Bank

2005 – 2008    Senior Analyst, Public Finance Division, Evercore Partners (Protego Asesores)

2004                  Analyst, Argentinian Advisory Office, Bancomext

Lead Analyst for the development of a special purpose vehicle to finance municipal infrastructure. For this project, I developed a financial model to generate shadow credit ratings for Mexican municipalities. This model guideded the vehicle’s loan pricing strategy and became a recurrent source of information for other advisory projects at Protego.

Lead Analyst in the Securitization of the local payroll tax for the State of Michoacan. For that transaction, I helped in the design of a unique AAA-rated structure for which legal reforms were made to introduce “non-recourse public debt”, an innovative figure for Mexican states. I wrote the Prospectus and Supplement of the public offering and helped coordinate the revision and compilation of legal documents to obtain authorization from the Securities and Banking Commission.

Lead Analyst in the design of Public Private Partnership (PPP) schemes for the State of Mexico. For that project, I helped develop the first sub-national regulatory framework in Mexico that guarantees long-term payment commitment through PPP contracts. This task involved developing cost-benefit analysis parameters and designing the project approval mechanisms and bidding procedures for diverse infrastructure projects.

At Bancomext, I assisted Mexican companies in the processed food, automotive and telecommunications industries to identify potential clients and trade partners in Argentina.

During my stay at the World Bank, I started a research project with Norman Loayza, lead economist in the research department. The result of this collaboration is a paper titled "Poverty, Inequality, and the Local Natural Resource Curse".
